Why isn't the article I want showing up in Summon search results?

Answer

Summon is Wilkes University's discovery service and it searches all of Farley Library's journals, databases, books and other resources simultaneously.

However, sometimes there is a lag period between when an article is published in an online journal and when it is discoverable in Summon search results. If you know Wilkes subscribes to the journal (you can also consult the journal list) and if the article you want has been published very recently (such as an article in the current issue or a very recent news article) and you don't see it appearing in Summon search results, go directly to the journal or database itself and try your search again.

For example, if the article you are looking for is in one of the most recent issues of Nature, it likely won't show up in Summon search results for a couple of weeks. You will find the article by going directly to the Nature Journals database in the Farley Library A-Z database list.

You can also go to the journal directly by searching the title in the journal list and clicking the link next to the years of access you'd like to view.

If you have issues locating a resource, don't hesitate to Ask a Librarian.
